| GENERAL DESCRIPTION |
STAR ROAD-GUARD is a specialty coating, designed for road surfaces that have deteriorated over the years of use. STAR
ROAD-GUARD is an outstanding asphalt emulsion-based pavement coating that is far superior in performance compared to the
conventional surface treatments. STAR ROAD-GUARD is formulated with tough rubber/ polymers, specialty chemicals and select
mineral fillers which impart flexibility and durability to the coated pavement surfaces. To maximize the performance properties, the
rubber/polymer is hot-blended during the manufacturing process.

| APPLICATION NOTES |
SURFACE PREPARATION:
1. Clean pavement of all dirt, dust, and debris.
2. Fill all cracks with a hot pour crack filler or STAR STA-FLEX, Cold-Pour Crack Filler.
3. Patch all broken and alligatored areas with either hot patch or a cold patch, STAR SURE-FLEX.
4. Clean and prime all oil spots with STAR S.O.S.OIL SPOT primer or STAR ONE STEP.
NEW PAVEMENTS:
New asphalt surfaces shall be sufficiently cured (approx. 90 days @ 70+ Deg F) to rid of the surface oils through
oxidation. Perform “water break free test” by spreading some water on the surface. If the water does not bead and sheets
out evenly, the surface is ready for coating with STAR ROAD-GUARD.

Dilution:
- Max 20% water by volume on the amount of concentrated STAR ROAD-GUARD is recommended.
- Under highly humid and hot pavement temperature conditions an additional 5% of water may be added.

| APPLICATION TOOLS: |
STAR ROAD-GUARD is applied using conventional methods; Airless spray, mechanical squeegee, hand tools-brushes, squeegees.
Apply the first coat with suitable equipment and allow to dry thoroughly before applying the second coat. The second coat shall be
spray applied to yield correct coverage rate, thus the optimum performance.

2nd. Coat may be applied as soon as the first coat is dry enough to take foot traffic and moving of the application equipment. The

COVERAGE RATES:
Coverage rates may vary with the age of the pavement. Newer pavement will use less sealer than old oxidized pavements.
- Low to Medium traffic- Two (2) Coats, 0.25 gal. of the mix per sq. yard or 35 sq. ft./gal. of the mix.
- High Traffic – Three (3) coats, 0.35 gal. of the mix per sq. yard or 25 sq. ft./gal. of the mix.

EXCLUSIONS:
- Do not use STAR ROAD-GUARD over chip seal or Gilsonite sealed surfaces. For best results apply according to
manufacturers’ Detailed Application Specifications.
